Honkai: Nexus Anima Characters: Every Eidos and the MC

Honkai: Nexus Anima has 13 playable Eidos plus an amnesiac main character you name and design. Every character, their role, and who matters in the story.

The short answer: 13 Eidos and you

Honkai: Nexus Anima has two kinds of character. The Eidos are the named humans and demigods you fight alongside, and the Anima are the creatures you bond and field on the hex board. This page covers the human side: all 28 Eidos in our database, the main character you create, and the townspeople who drive the story in Iia.

The Evolution Test roster has 13 playable Eidos, and four more (Hyperius, Juelle, Gloria and Lou F. Y) appear in the roster of the newest test build. Six more were playable in the CBT1 Nexus Bond Test and are not in the current build, and a handful appear only in the story. You join them as an amnesiac newcomer whose look, name and attributes are yours to set.

If you want the creatures instead, the Anima dex lists all of them. If you want a ranking, the tier list rates every playable Eidos and Anima.

Key takeaways

  • 13 playable Eidos: six 5-star and seven 4-star. Each one brings an Eidos Skill, an Aspect Skill that buffs Anima of one Aspect, and a signature Anima companion.
  • The main character is customisable. Body type, starting appearance and name at the start, with appearance and name changeable later through the power of Change.
  • Your MC fights too. The kit is Oblivion-aligned, built around stacking Unravel, and pairs with Inkifoal, Inkicorn and Atragasus.
  • STR, INT, CHA and LUCK gate dialogue, and they can be reallocated.
  • Six Eidos from the first beta are gone for now, including the Sovereign Nonimir, who was called Kumyo Kyo in CBT1.
  • No voice actor is credited for the main character anywhere in the game.

How Eidos work in battle

An Eidos is not a unit on the board in the way an Anima is. The game describes it as a bond: “Those tied to you by Nexus threads will form an Eidos in your heart. With the unique power of Change, you can assume the form of each Eidos and wield their special abilities in battles.”

In practice every Eidos gives you three things:

  1. An Eidos Skill that you fire when Eidos Energy is full. Bai Mei Freezes an area, Nanafey drops a Shield, Parayaya turns an enemy against its own side.
  2. An Aspect Skill, a passive that strengthens every Anima of one Aspect. This is why an Eidos usually anchors a team built on that Aspect’s Synergy.
  3. A companion Anima that gains an exclusive effect when fielded with that Eidos. Herocrates has Camcorgi, Olympia has Noctumbra, Kiana has Fyrklor.

The Eidos database has the energy numbers for each one: cost, starting pool and regeneration, before and after Eidognosis. Each detail page now lists the full kit, upgrades and companion effects. For how Aspects stack into Synergies, read the Aspect synergy guide.

Every playable Eidos in the current build

These are the 13 Eidos you can field today, sorted by rarity. The role column is our one-phrase summary of what the kit does.

Eidos Rarity Aspect Role Companion
Bai Mei 5-star Reality Area Freeze and Magic DMG Seroplumanth
Blade 5-star Strength Single-target finisher Bladehound
Herocrates 5-star Memory Silence and control Camcorgi
Hungrille 5-star Satiation Team healer Hoggit
Olympia 5-star Dark Damage over time Noctumbra
Parayaya 5-star Hate Charm control Mesmerith
Breadhead 4-star Reality Stun and MR Shred Mimoo
Hua 4-star Competition Team Attack SPD buff Marshalbird
Kiana 4-star Strength Single-ally buff Fyrklor
Maple Manybell 4-star Joy MP and Attack SPD support Pumpkimp
Nanafey 4-star Beauty Area Shield Beaubeanie
Otto 4-star Light Area Armor shred Chimaura
Shilian 4-star Memory Energy support Framamba

The 5-star Eidos

Bai Mei is the current Novarch of Reality. Her Eidos Skill deals Magic DMG within 3 hexes and Freezes everything within 2, with extra Ice DMG on the Daydreamer, the target the Reality Synergy marks. Blade is the Strength finisher: Splintered Sword hits one enemy for Physical DMG and adds True DMG if the target is below 50% Health.

Herocrates is the Nexus Association’s “Professor.” His skill Silences the targets it hits and feeds Eternal Memory, the Memory Synergy stack. Hungrille, Novarch of Satiation, is the only Eidos built purely around healing: her skill heals every ally, with extra healing over time for low-Health targets.

Olympia runs damage over time. She applies five stacks of Night Rend, then Settles every DoT on the targets at once. Parayaya, the Novarch of Hate, Beguiles one opponent into a Puppet of Love that switches sides and has its ATK cut.

The 4-star Eidos

The 4-stars are mostly support, and several are strong enough to matter. Shilian restores Energy for allies on three chosen hexes, which is why she sits high on the tier list. Maple Manybell gives one ally MP and Attack SPD, and Kiana gives one ally Max Health and ATK.

Hua speeds up every Competition Anima at once. Nanafey shields every ally within 1 hex of a chosen hex. Otto lowers the Armor of every opponent near a target hex. Breadhead fires two pieces of bread at one target, Stunning it and shredding its MR if it is a Daydreamer.

Eidos that are not in the current build

Six Eidos were playable in the CBT1 Nexus Bond Test and were removed for the Evolution Test. Their pages stay up because players still search for them and because removed units sometimes return.

Eidos Rarity Who they are Status
Armand 5-star The 8th Sovereign, domain Light and Dark, now the 17th Novarch of Darkness CBT1 only
Nonimir 5-star The 4th Sovereign, master of Reality and Illusion, formerly Kumyo Kyo CBT1 only
Prabhas 5-star The 16th Novarch, Novarch of Light, the Sunfire Monk CBT1 only
Sir Champion 5-star The 34th Novarch, Novarch of Competition CBT1 only
Jalily Belau 4-star The Arena Master of Iia’s Arena CBT1 only
Cassio Rollex 4-star A Deputy Arena Master CBT1 only

One more CBT1 unit, an earlier form of a current Eidos, sits behind a spoiler on the Eidos database. We are not naming it here.

Nonimir is the one most people ask about. He is the Sovereign the story keeps returning to, he was playable under the name Kumyo Kyo in the first beta, and the current game refers to him as “he” throughout. Earlier coverage, including some of ours, called him “her”. That came from the CBT1 version and is out of date.

Story-only characters

Four more characters appear in cutscenes and quests but have never been playable:

  • Amorphiron, the Novarch of Change, a shapeshifter who also appears as a woman named Amorphira.
  • Amstradath, the 5th Sovereign, whose domain is Life and Death.
  • Apeiron, once the Sovereign of Infinity and Finity.
  • Carole, a member of the True Nexus Syndicate under Olympia.

More Eidos you meet in Iia

Four more Eidos turn up in Iia, and all four now sit in the Eidos roster of the latest test build, where you can switch to them in the open world. Each now has its own database page.

Hyperius, the Competition Supervisor, standing on a beach in Iia in Honkai: Nexus Anima Hyperius, the Competition Supervisor, has a full Light kit.

  • Hyperius is “the Competition Supervisor,” who waits for you in the Arena Master’s office at one point in the story. His kit is Light-aligned: a three-hit Active Skill, a Shining Light passive, and a companion effect with Lumehart.
  • Juelle is the Chair of the Committee for a Joyful Iia, a young girl who rescues you with a Dragamour on your first night in town. Her kit is Love-aligned, with Dragamour as her companion.
  • Gloria is a shy photographer who loves photography. Her kit is built on the Insatiability Aspect, with Jerboranj as her companion.
  • Lou F. Y is a Competition Eidos who fights alongside Bai Mei and Hungrille against an Illusion Aspect beast cocoon, and one story battle hands you her Eidos Skill.

Lou F. Y standing in a park in Iia with townspeople behind her in Honkai: Nexus Anima Lou F. Y joins Bai Mei and Hungrille against the beast cocoon.

We will add pages for these four when they are confirmed as playable. Until then, treat them as characters you will meet, not units you can pull.

The main character: who you play

You play an Animaster who has lost their memory. The game calls you a “half-amnesiac who just arrived in Iia.” You land in the seaside town after falling from the sky. Nanafey and Otto, two kind-hearted kids, offer you a place to stay, and you tell Nanafey you are there to compete in the Grand Championship.

Your name appears in dialogue wherever the game uses its name placeholder, and townspeople react to you as a newcomer. Nanafey registers you in town and teaches you your first exploration abilities with Anima: Puddlipup’s Super Bounce, Vulberry’s Sweet Toss and Lepinamel’s Glide. The beginner progression guide walks through those first hours.

Character creation

Character creation is short:

  1. Select a body type.
  2. Pick a starting appearance. The game shows at least two to choose from.
  3. Enter a name. No spaces or special characters, and a banned-words filter applies.

Dialogue is written in two versions, one for each form, so NPCs address you as “Miss” or “Mister,” “lass” or “lad,” depending on your choice.

None of it is locked in. The game frames later changes as the power of Change: “Use the power of Change to rename yourself” appears in the menus, and Change Appearance can be used again later, as long as you are not mounted, airborne or in the middle of an action.

The power of Change

Change is the in-story explanation for almost everything the main character can do. It is how you take the form of an Eidos in battle, how you restyle yourself, and it shows up in quests too. In one Nexus Association quest you use it to disguise yourself as Herocrates and get into an underground operation.

You call it a curse. Amorphiron, the Novarch of Change, calls it a blessing: “With the Aspect of Change, you can change your appearance, gender, attributes, and abilities.” Where it came from is a story reveal we are leaving for the lore primer and the game itself.

Attributes: STR, INT, CHA and LUCK

The main character has four attributes: Strength, Intelligence, Charisma and Luck. You spend attribute points on them, and the game says plainly what they are for: “You can unlock different dialogue options based on your Attributes.”

Attribute Full name Example check from the game
STR Strength STR 4 or more combined with CHA 2 or less
INT Intelligence INT 7 or more, and a puzzle hint that tells you to boost INT and try again
CHA Charisma Paired with STR in some checks
LUCK Luck LUCK 7 or more

A few points worth knowing:

  • Low stats open lines too. Some checks require a stat at or below a value, such as INT 3 or less, so a lopsided build sees dialogue a balanced one never will.
  • You can reallocate. The attribute screen has a Change Attributes option, and a respec pill is sold at the Echo Pawnshop and the Globe-Trotter Store.
  • Food buffs them temporarily. Some consumables add INT and CHA for 10 minutes, and one trades INT for STR.

The main character’s combat kit

Your own Eidos form is aligned with the Oblivion Aspect and plays as single-target damage. Its pieces:

  • Eidos Skill: on hit, applies Unravel and deals Physical DMG. Defeating an opponent that has Unravel restores Energy to nearby allies.
  • Unravel: a debuff that stacks up to 3 times. Each stack increases the damage the target takes.
  • Aspect Skill, Forget Not: increases Oblivion Anima ATK. Activating the Oblivion Synergy creates 2 additional Water of Lethe hexes.
  • Water of Lethe: a special hex created by the Oblivion Synergy. The Anima standing on it becomes The Forgotten, and the first time it drops below 50% Health it heals itself.

One detail differs between versions of the skill text. The short version gives the Energy refund to the nearest ally, and a longer version gives it to the two allies closest to the defeated opponent, scaled by Unravel stacks. Either way, kills on Unravelled targets feed your team Energy.

Your companions: Inkifoal, Inkicorn and Atragasus

Your companions are a line of ink-and-memory horses: the foal Inkifoal, the unicorn Inkicorn, and the winged Atragasus. Each gets a companion effect keyed to Unravel:

  • Inkifoal restores Health when an opponent in the Unravel state is defeated.
  • Inkicorn receives a Shield after you cast your Active Skill.
  • Atragasus gains Attack SPD while an Unravelled opponent is present. When it helps defeat one, your next Active Skill hits harder.

Inkifoal is the first Anima the story has you bond, and it starts on the front row. Use the team builder to plan an Oblivion board around Water of Lethe.

Key story characters in Iia

Iia is a small town with three powers, and the story makes you deal with all of them. The Committee for a Joyful Iia, the True Nexus Syndicate and the Nexus Association each hold quotas to recommend players for the Qualifiers, and you need one of those recommendations.

Juelle, Chair of the Committee for a Joyful Iia, standing at the top of stone steps in the rain in Honkai: Nexus Anima Juelle chairs the Committee for a Joyful Iia and rescues you on your first night in town.

Character Who they are
Nanafey Montemar Academy student who houses you and teaches you to explore with Anima
Otto Young scholar at the academy who researches a cure for obliviosis
Juelle Chair of the Committee for a Joyful Iia
Alfonso Mayor of Iia and a senior council member of the Committee
Olympia Director of the True Nexus Syndicate’s Iia branch
Herocrates The Nexus Association’s “Professor,” from its Scientific Research Department
Ms. Nantinn Front desk at Nexus Hall, who hands out commissions and dislikes the Syndicate
Valynn A researcher at the Nexus Association
Clementine A black-market dealer in modified Anima
Wes Landel Iia’s agoraphobic gardener, suspected of Syndicate ties
Jalily Belau Arena Master, whom you must beat to reach the Amphitheater
Maple and Cassio Rollex Deputy Arena Masters
Dongfang Suoni Postmaster of Tactile Post
Kiana A Planestrider helping the Committee keep watch around town
Hua A boy you meet at Aniwon Plaza who wants to win the Qualifiers

Obliviosis, the disease Otto studies, causes memory loss, which puts your own amnesia in an interesting light. The lore primer covers the Sovereigns, the Novarchs and the Sundering behind all of this, and the Eidos guide goes deeper on who runs Iia.

Spoiler note. This page leaves out the main character’s true identity and the late-story twists around Nonimir and the Lotus Realm. Some Eidos pages note story spoilers where they affect who a character is.

Bottom line

If you are new, start with the 13 playable Eidos in the table above. Pick one whose Aspect matches the Anima you already own: a Memory team wants Herocrates or Shilian, a Reality team wants Bai Mei or Breadhead.

Build your main character’s attributes around the dialogue and puzzle options you want to see. They can be reallocated, so an early choice is not permanent. Then plan a board in the team builder, check the tier list before you spend Bonds, and use the Eidos database for each character’s full kit and companion effects.
